Purbanchal University (PU) is established in 1995 by the Government of Nepal with its fundamental objective of preserving, refining, inverting, adopting, extending and transmitting knowledge in an environment that fosters open scholarly debate leading to all-encompassing development of the rural people and their economics and environment. The academic programs are designed according to the need of the country and the international trend in the social and economic sector.
The university is committed to achieve academic excellence through research, teaching and practical studies in specific areas that contribute to the social economic and sustainable development agendas of the country.
PU conducts its academic programs through its nine constituent campuses as well as 125 affiliated colleges. The university has been offering under graduates and post-graduates programs in varies area through its Faculty of Management, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Science and Technology, Faculty of Medical and Allied Sciences and Faculty of Arts, Law and Education and different Subject committee.
Faculty of Arts, Law and Education is one of the oldest Faculties of the University. This Faculty has designed and launched several academic and professional programs for undergraduate and graduate levels since its formation.
Likewise Faculty of Arts, Law and Education supervise three different disciplines although each Faculty has its own Faculty board and subject committee.
Faculty of Arts (FOA) has been offering some popular programs like BSW (Bachelor of Social Work), BA (Bachelor of Arts), BID (Bachelor of Interior Design),BLAS (Bachelor of Liberal Arts & Science), BMT (Bachelor of Media Technology), MMT (Master of Media Technology), MA (Master of Arts in Sociology/Anthropology),MAMCJ (Master of Arts in Mass communication & Journalism),M.Sc.PRD (Master of Science in Population and Rural Development),MDS (Master of Development Studies), MSW (Master of Social Work) , BA (Bachelor of Arts honors in English), MA (Master of Arts in English) etc.
The Faculty of Education (FOE) at PU has grown to be the centre of Education on teaching and learning in the country, offering the most comprehensive carry of undergraduates/graduates programs.
Faculty of Education has been offering some programs like B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education), one year B.Ed. (one yr. B.Ed.),one yr. B.Ed. DM (one year Bachelor of Education Distance Mode), M.Ed. (Master of Education) etc.
Likewise, Faculty of Law has been offering some programs like three years LLB, five years BALLB, two Years LLM and one year Master in Human Rights, one year Master in conflict and international Humanitarian Law etc.
This University has become one of the best choices among undergraduate and graduate students for various academic programs.
